INTRODUCTION

India ranks first in world cattle and buffalo population with 185.2 million cattle and 97.9 million buffaloes (Livestock census, 2003). Further, India is also the world’s largest milk producer since 1998-99, produced 96.10 million tonnes in 2006 (Dairy India, 2007). Communication media plays an important role in dissemination of information regarding latest technologies to the farmers. There are varieties of extension methods available for dissemination of technologies to farmers. Among them, using computer aided devices like compact disc (CD) consisting of technical lessons for transfer of technology is of recent origin and it is considered as one of the important advancement in ICT field. This improved communication and farmer friendly information access are directly related to socioeconomic characteristics of farmers. Keeping this in view the study is framed with an objective to study the relationship between the socio economic characteristics and knowledge level of clean milk production practices.
