PERCEPTION OF ADMINISTRATORS ABOUT IMPORTANCE OF THE DIMENSIONS IN ORGANIZATIONAL CLIMATE OF SELECTED STATE AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITIES

Abstract

The widely adaptable descriptive research survey design was used in the present study. The study was conducted in four state agricultural universities of India viz. Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, Punjab (North), Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU), Rajendra Nagar, Andhra Pradesh (South); Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Jorhat , Assam (East) and Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPAU), Udaipur, Rajasthan (West) to study the perceptions of the administrators regarding the importance of dimensions of organizational climate. The data collected from the 100 administrators reveals that communication followed by leadership, team work and physical facilities were the most important dimensions and least important dimensions were monetary gains, accountability/evaluation, management of rewards and control and supervision. Medium importance assigned by faculty to the dimensions of interpersonal relationship, policies and rules, innovation, orientation and decision making in overall organizational climate.

Introduction

Agricultural Universities occupy a central position among the developed organizations leading our ever needed efforts for the improvement of agriculture. The growing scale of development of Agricultural University has given rise to certain need to carefully analyze the behavior of the people in these organizations, with a view to ascertain the measures necessary to improve their functions and area of deficiency, so as attain a faster rate of growth and development, towards achieving the goals.
