Human Resource and Socio-Economic Development in Sonebhadra District (Uttar Pradesh)

Abstract

Human resource development plays an important role in the socio-economic development of any region. This is due to the reason that if there is underinvestment in human resources the rate at which additional physical capital can be productivity utilized will be limited since technical, professional and administrative people are required to make effective use of material resources.According to Mandela (1994), “Education is the great engine for personal  development. It is through education that the daughter of peasant can become a doctor, that the son of a mineworker can become the head of the mine that a child of a farm worker can become the president of a great nation. It is what we make out of what we have not what we are given that separates one person from another”. Sonebhadra district is situated in south-eastern part of Uttar Pradesh.The district lies between latitude 23°52’N to 25°32’ N and longitude 82°72’E to 83°73’ E in Uttar Pradesh. Population of the district according to census 2011 is 18,62,642. Population is supposed to be good resource in economic development of any area.Sonebhadra district is full of natural resources but underdeveloped human resource is major hindrance in the development of the district and that is why it is responsible for poor socio-economic condition of the people in the district.So, this paper attempts to bring the centrality of human resource development in order to push socio-economic development.

INTRODUCTION

      The idea of managing or developing human resource within the preview of the family is a healthy idea. It is believed that the members of the first family on earth had a way of managing their individual potentials. Human resource development is concerned with the learning and enhancement or individual of groups of organization and communities. It sees human resource development as a process which is highly synonymous with capital formation which is beneficial for the local mass. This paper attempts to explain that socio-economic development is related with the increasing number of persons who have proper education, skill and experience as it also provides motivation which is necessary for socio-economic development of any area. Actually human resource development and socio-economic development are complementary to each other. Both proceed together and reinforce one another.
